Now that Run Free – The True Story of Caballo Blanco has been produced it is slowly making its way out into the world. The purpose of this article is to inform you where you can see the film and how you can be involved in sharing its message of hope.
(Seattle, WA, February 27, 2015) – The feature length documentary Run Free – The True Story of Caballo Blanco has won a prestigious Award of Excellence from the IndieFEST Film Awards. The award was given for Sterling Noren’s exciting documentary which chronicles the life story of Micah True who ran with the Tarahumara Indians of Mexico.
The website Gear Junkie recently created a list of 110 outdoor ambassadors who have ‘made a difference’.
Micah True is #99 and the website has this to say about the White horse:
“Perhaps the first trail running bum, True was an unusual suspect to inspire the recent barefoot-running movement. But when True invited Christopher McDougall to Mexico’s Copper Canyon Ultra Marathon, he became a central figure in McDougall’s book, “Born To Run,” illuminating the minimal running techniques of the Tarahumara people. True passed away on a run in New Mexico’s Gila Desert in 2012, and now the Copper Canyon race has been renamed in True’s memory as Ultramarathon Caballo Blanco.”

In 2012 we provided race footage of the Copper Canyon Ultra Marathon, featuring Micah True, and the Raramuri runners, to Sender Films of Boulder, Colorado, for their production of a Team CLIF bar video, featuring the legendary athlete, honored champion and friend of the Tarahumara families of La Sierra, Scott Jurek.
In a true, organic spirit of Korima (circle of sharing), Sender Films provided interviews and running footage of Scott Jurek. Thank you Sender Films!
Christopher McDougall, the author of Born to Run, has agreed to be interviewed for our movie. We are scheduling this interview to take place soon. Thank you ‘Mc Oso’ for your gift of sharing this inspiring story with the world. Your friendship to Caballo, and belief in our project, is priceless.
In the meantime, we are currently in the final editing stage of the movie. We have received valuable feedback on two previous “rough cut” viewings. We are now working on what we hope to be our final cut. Once final editing is done and the picture is locked, we will complete color correction, titles and graphics, and final audio post production at a video post-production facility, in California.
We are working with a contributor to create a movie premiere in November, and will post details about this special event as soon as they are available.
